We’ve raised £1,940 for St Catherine’s Hospice during Make a Will Fortnight 2019

The firm took part in the annual initiative ‘Make a Will Fortnight’ in aid of St Catherine’s Hospice last month and raised an impressive £1,940. We take part in the scheme each year to raise money for the local charity by writing Wills for a suggested charitable donation.

It’s vital to have a valid Will so that once you pass away, your final wishes are honoured. Without a Will, the person who inherits your estate may not be the person you intended to inherit, and your loved ones may miss out. There are many pitfalls and mistakes that can easily be made on a DIY Will that could leave your Will invalid, so it’s important to use a lawyer.

We were busy writing Wills and all the money raised from the appointments goes towards helping everyone face death informed, supported and pain-free, as well as providing expert care for people in West Sussex and East Surrey either at St Catherine’s itself or in a person’s own home.

Erica Pearce-Howard, who heads up the Private Client team at stevensdrake, said: “We are thrilled to have raised £1,940 for this fantastic local charity. The team are proud to join other local firms to take part in this scheme annually and we’re pleased to have raised £900 more than we did last year.

“It can be daunting to write your Will and it’s often difficult to bring up money with your loved ones, but we can’t stress enough how important it is to have a Will in place. It’s never too early to write one, you shouldn’t wait until later in life.”
