If you haven’t seen this already, you might want to have a look at the conclusions reached by The Chartered Management Institute (CMI) as a result of some recent research that they conducted. They found that British people find it harder to have a difficult conversation at work than to break off a romantic relationship. This seems bizarre, doesn’t it? Yet it has the ring of truth about it. I regularly talk to clients who have put off and put off a difficult conversation at work, presumably in the hope that the problem would go away. The fact that they are talking to me suggests that it hasn’t. Indeed, there is always the possibility that the problem has actually got worse.
What can we do to help?
