Employment Law

Employment law is constantly changing and is increasingly complicated. It throws up some of the most difficult issues that individuals have to face. Whatever the problem you are facing, we can help you solve it.

We provide advice and support on all areas of employment law, including:

  • Employment Tribunal claims
  • Contracts of employment and directors’ service agreements
  • Settlement agreements
  • Disciplinary and grievance procedures
  • Redundancies
  • Confidentiality and competition issues

Employment Law

If you are facing problems at work, we are here to help.  You will benefit from our experience of advising directors, executives and employees at all levels and in all sectors. Whether you are facing redundancy or disciplinary action, whether you wish to raise a grievance or an Employment Tribunal claim, we are likely to have seen it before and can guide you through the process.

Employment Tribunals

The modern workplace has become highly regulated over recent years, making the business of employing people very complicated.  As a result, it is increasingly common for employers and employees to fall into dispute. If you find yourself pursuing or defending an Employment Tribunal claim, then we are here to help.

We are keen to get involved in disputes at an early stage.  By working with you from the beginning, we can swiftly advise you on the merits of your claim or defence, together with the best strategies to adopt.  We can then guide you through each stage of the dispute, managing the risks and ensuring the best possible outcomes for you or your business.

We conduct all types of Employment Tribunal litigation and have particular experience in dealing with claims for:

  • unfair dismissal
  • breach of contract
  • discrimination
  • ‍harassment
  • victimisation
  • whistle blowing

Settlement agreements

We regularly act for employees in the negotiation of settlement agreements (previously known as compromise agreements).  If you have been offered a settlement agreement, you will need to take independent legal advice on its terms and effect.  We can provide this advice.

We appreciate that you may be concerned about the potential costs involved.  However, your settlement agreement will normally include a promise from your employer that they will make a contribution towards your legal fees.  As a result, you may not have to pay us a penny for the help that we provide.

Client Feedback

We are delighted to have assisted BN Care Group with its acquisition of Barton Place Nursing Home. We worked closely with Brachers LLP in order to ensure and achieve a seamless yet efficient and effective outcome, whilst providing comprehensive and tailored support/advice. We would like to congratulate BN Care Group on another successful acquisition and look forward to the next.

BN Care CEO Wade Newmark released the following statement regarding the acquisition:

"I am delighted to announce that BN Care Group completed the acquisition of Barton Place Nursing Home on Friday. Barton Place is registered to provide accommodation for up to 42 people who require nursing and personal care. The home specialises in caring for people living with dementia and mental illness, and focuses on high acuity residents. Located just outside of Exeter city, the home is an important addition to our long-term goal of building a group providing high quality care to higher needs residents. Along with our sister home at Hay House, this makes us a leading provider in the area for dementia and mental illness. I thank stevensdrake for your incredible hard work these past months to get us over the line with Barton Place. Your team could not have been more helpful." BN Care CEO Wade Newmark
“stevensdrake were exceptional. I was particularly impressed by there thoroughness in ensuring that I understood all aspects of the legal agreement that I was signing. I also appreciated his comments on how normal or unusual clauses in the agreement were, based on his experience with that type of agreement”
“I had such a quick and easy experience of your services, James was an absolute star.”
“Everything was efficient, well explained, courteous and expedient”.
“Speed of service and excellent advice. Excellent customer care”.
